Posture

Posture is not a pose. It is an organised response to movement, habit and environment.

Posture

A practical training approach designed to improve postural awareness, recognise habitual compensations and explore more efficient ways of organising the body in everyday life.

What Do I Mean by Posture?

Posture is often reduced to instructions such as ‘shoulders back’ or ‘stand straight’. That is too simplistic. Human posture is dynamic. It changes with breathing, fatigue, work, footwear, screens, stress, movement, pain, environment and habit.

The objective is therefore not to hold one perfect position all day. It is to develop awareness, options and the ability to reorganise the body when necessary.

My Approach to Posture

I work through observation, small adjustments, breathing, mobility, positioning and body awareness. We look at how the client naturally stands, sits and moves, then identify patterns that may be useful to explore.

This is training and education, not a medical postural diagnosis. When pain, neurological symptoms, injury or another clinical issue requires assessment, the appropriate healthcare professional should be involved.

What We May Observe

  • Head and neck position
  • Shoulder organisation
  • Thoracic and rib-cage position
  • Pelvic position
  • Weight distribution
  • Relationship between upper and lower body
  • Breathing patterns
  • Mobility restrictions visible during simple movements
  • Habitual tension
  • Standing and sitting habits
  • Movement strategies used in everyday tasks

Micromovements and Reorganisation

Large changes are not always necessary. Small movements can help the client perceive areas that have become rigid or habitual. Gentle pelvic movement, rib-cage awareness, shoulder organisation and breathing can be used to explore different positions and improve control.

These micromovements are not a universal correction protocol. They are tools for awareness and movement exploration.

Posture and Presence

Posture also influences how clothing falls and how a person occupies space. For this reason, postural awareness can affect visual presence without turning the body into an aesthetic project.

The goal is not to perform confidence. It is to create a more organised and conscious physical presence.

What a Session May Include

  • Observation of everyday posture and movement
  • Breathing awareness
  • Mobility exploration
  • Pelvic and rib-cage awareness
  • Shoulder and neck organisation
  • Simple stability exercises
  • Micromovements
  • Positioning for daily activities
  • Practical home guidance

Who Is It For?

For adults who want to understand their postural habits, feel more aware of how they sit, stand and move, or integrate posture into everyday wellbeing and physical presence.

What You Will Learn

  • How to recognise habitual positions
  • How breathing can influence posture
  • How small adjustments change movement and comfort
  • How to create more postural options rather than chase one rigid ideal
  • How to apply awareness to work, daily life and movement

Available Formats

The format is adapted to the training and to the client’s needs. Depending on the programme, it may be available in person, online, individually or in a small-group format. Location, duration, frequency and investment remain flexible and are confirmed according to the selected service or package.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you ‘correct’ my posture?
The work is not based on forcing one ideal posture. We identify habits and develop awareness and alternatives.
Is this physiotherapy?
No. This is educational body training. Clinical assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation belong to regulated healthcare practice.
Can posture training be combined with hypopressive work?
Yes. Postural positioning is already an important part of hypopressive practice.
Can it be online?
Some posture and body-awareness work can be adapted to online sessions depending on the client and objective.

Better posture begins with better perception.
